RIP Jim Stynes

Hi all!

So it has been a while since my last post. During that time I've been fairly busy with work, uni and attending the Grand Prix, but I'm back for more of the same.

First of all I must mention Jim Stynes. A great footballer, family man and person, unselfish and loving towards a club that emulates none of the same. RIP to the 1991 Brownlow medal winner.

On a lighter note, Flo Rida almost crushed me during his crowd surf. The man is huge!

I will rant today, simply because I've been a witness to something that brings about the following quote: The good suffer whilst the bad go unpunished.

As I can't reveal the exact details of what happened, I will say that protecting one's self against danger should override all else. My anger is only contained by the lack of detail, but if I was able to name the those involved, I would happily do so and ensure such an event would never be repeated.

To move on, the AFL season starts this week. About time!

Peace out!

Hi all!

How was the long weekend?

Moomba, The Future Music Festival and some interesting sporting results occupied the news.

Each event held many talking points, but none more so than 'Future'. Be it a girl squatting in the midst of a crowd doing her business, people jumping the fence to cheat the system (of which I was witness to) or the crazed antics of certain acts, the festival continues to produce discussion.

Moomba was fairly low key in comparison to years gone by, not so obvious in its presence like the aforementioned girl (sorry, I couldn't help myself). Fireworks, carnival folk and giant plush toys filled the city, though it was more an expectation than a spectacle. Even the birdman competition struggled to impress.

Adelaide against West Coast in the NAB Grand Final = The battle of the 'who cares' cup.

If you believe me to be sulking or slightly negative towards the events Melbourne is offering residents, remember, it is the end of a long weekend. Tomorrow may be called Tuesday, but it's simply Monday with a different name.

Bring on the Grand Prix! Flo Rida, Mark Webber and celebrities galore will bring back the excitement.

I tip my hat to another week of hard work and sacrifice.

Peace out!

Joseph Kony - It is everywhere!

Hi all!

Friday is only minutes away, but the topic on our mind is Joseph Kony. How can we escape it?

I logged on to Facebook 24 hours or so ago to see Kony 2012 filling up my feed. My immediate reaction was to jump on Google and find out more. Nothing gets the curiosity going like a common Facebook status!

So, a 30 minute film. I sat through the documentary and learned a few things:

1. Joseph Kony is an evil man, in the mould of Hitler (as shown in the film).

2. April 20th 2012 is 'Cover the night'. I feel sorry for the street cleaners the next morning. Nobody will know the name like they will.

3. Action packs cost 50 bucks, with a bracelet or two and a poster.

Honestly, this is new communication technology at its most powerful. The filmmaker knows this, using his own son and a child in the middle of the problem to tug at our heartstrings. Is this right?

Will I be doing anything on April 20? Apart from watching the footy with a scotch and dry, no.

The name is already known through-out the world, why ask people to make the campaign annoyibg by drilling the image into the minds of residents? The idea is fantastic, don't overkill the project.

At the end of the day, Kony will be arrested and killed. When? I can't tell you, but the soldiers who are sent to find him will do so with the support of millions. They won't fail.

So sit back, rest easy, and know the man will die. Donate if you feel the need. But one quick tip: watch the film again, and see if you can notice the methods used. Subliminal imagery is contained every few minutes. We live in a strange world, my fellow bloggers.

Well, that went on a tad too long. I implore you all to enjoy your weekend, stay out late, party hard and have a drink for me.

Catch you on Sunday, enjoy Moomba and the Future Music Festival!

Peace out!

Saving Lives...Yet Targeted

Hi all!

Today I will rant, simply because I find reason.

The North Melbourne Football Club, an AFL team with the mascot of a Kangaroo, has come under fire today due to signing with World Vision Australia.

Now, I'll be honest, I am passionate about this club. When I see and hear criticism that is unjust and unfair, I will fire up.

The wide belief today is that the NMFC will suffer financially by linking with this organisation, rather than siding with a betting agency as most others do.

So, let me get this straight. We are being ridiculed for doing the morally correct thing?

We are not like the power hungry clubs or whoever else feels need to promote gambling and destroy lives. This initiative will draw sponsors on side, they will want to support a club that has values and strives to help the world, not cause mayhem upon it. Barcelona, the greatest soccer team in the world, once had an agreement with UNICEF. They are profitable, successful and respected worldwide.

I see no difference.

For those that continue to draw out the negative, seek the reason behind your anger and understand how important and appropriate fighting hunger is, compared to creating it.

Peace out!

Here We Go Again!

Hi all!

I'll admit, I'm not a happy camper at the moment.

After spending more than ten minutes on a blog to my loyal readers, I attempted to post the content and lost everything in the process.

Oh Monday, I'm glad it's nearly over.

So, back to that missing content.

I posed the question: What caught your attention whilst praying for Friday?

Was it Nic Natanui and his superhuman leap over a man, slam dunking in the process?

Did the police raids tickle your fancy, as they seized 20,000 DVDs from a few local men and charged them heavily?

Or was it the Essendon Football Club and their tale of sadness, of vomiting on the plane, amidst torrential rain, causing a lack of sleep and a St.Kilda uproar.

Either way, something filled your mind whilst sipping on that coffee and dreaming of the weekend.

Moomba and the Future Music Festival await our presence. Tuesday brings us closer!

Peace out! Let's hope this one goes through!

A Look Ahead

Hi all!

How was the weekend?

I know you will be struggling with the thought of another week behind the desk or wherever your weekdays are spent, but relax, I understand. Monday posts a terrible image, yet the end of a Sunday holds dread.

What did everyone get up to?

I managed to find time for 'Project X', which was a decent flick and deserving of your money and time. A party that escalates into mayhem is the perfect weekend treat.

Other notables were Soundwave on Friday at the Flemington Showgrounds, non-stop rain on Saturday, the humorous image of St.Kilda players standing in the rain without an opponent and the end of Melbourne Victory's finals hopes. Poor old Harry Kewell...

So as the weekend draws to a close we dwell on the enjoyable times of the past few days. All that drinking, eating, dancing and partying empties the pocket but fills the mind with joy.

Next week we have Moomba.
The week after is the Grand Prix.
And finally, after so much waiting and discussion, the real AFL season begins.

Peace out!

Of Threats and Openings

Friday approaches with a promise of better weather and cold beer in the fridge. What more could one ask for?

The dark clouds circle around Melbourne, threatening, reminding us summer is over and winter isn't far away.

Round 2 of the NAB Cup, the opening of Project X and The Devil Inside and what may be the start of the end for the A-League are on the minds of citizens on this dreary Thursday.

In all honesty, it hasn't been the best week to start a blog. The most fun we've had has been with a political battle and insulting a war hero. Life is good :)

I'm sure the weekend will deliver us something. It always does.

So on that note I will leave you all to party hard and bring stories of madness. In the hope of having something more exciting to write about, my next post will be on Sunday night. Tick tock, see you all there.

Peace out!

Hi all!

Yes it's a little late for a rant, but you know what? Here goes...

So Yumi and George attacked an Australian today, who happens to be built like a brick shithouse. They called him dumb, and pointed out that he may lack the skills in the bedroom.
Did I mention that the guy is built like a brick shithouse?

The circle is a stupid show, full of people who would clearly be deprived of their own intimacy. C'mon George, are you telling us you are a human dynamo in the sack? HA! I doubt that.

The strong and inspirational are no longer respected. Fools on shows like the circle love cutting down those who deserve respect.

A circle of lies.
A circle of idiots.

So...Jonathan Brown had his face busted apart again.

It hasn't been a good day for the big and mighty men of Australia.

Good night, sleep well, let's see what news tomorrow brings.

Peace out!
